Refrigerator & Freezer Repair
On this coast a refrigerator is never just a refrigerator. It is a sealed system fighting salt on its coils, a garage well past 100 degrees by mid morning, and a house that may have stood empty since May. All three shorten its life in different ways, and knowing which one you are looking at is most of the job. Every technician carries refrigerant certification, sealed system tools and the handful of parts that put a warm cabinet back on temperature.
We have been doing refrigerator / freezer work out of the same Jupiter shop since 1985, and the order of things has never changed: read the appliance, then quote it. A technician takes live readings, looks at whatever the machine has logged for itself, and only then names a part, because on this appliance the gap between a cheap repair and an expensive one often comes down to one measurement.
What the appointment looks like
You get a two hour window rather than a whole day to wait through, and the technician calls before setting off. Once the refrigerator / freezer has been tested you are told plainly what happened and given a single price for the part and the work together. Nothing comes apart until you have said yes to it.
Roughly three in four refrigerator / freezer repairs finish on that first visit, because the van is loaded from our own record of what actually gives out on this appliance along this coast. If something has to be ordered you get the date before we leave, and the return slot is booked there and then rather than chased up later.
Who builds this appliance
Every make we service that builds this appliance is set out further down, Liebherr, Thermador, Viking, Monogram, GE, LG among them. Who made it matters more than most owners expect. A Liebherr and a Whirlpool will happily show the same error for entirely different reasons, and the road to the answer runs differently on each.
Repair it or replace it?
You will get a straight answer. The rule we hold ourselves to is simple: if a repair would run past half the price of a comparable new machine and the unit is already beyond two thirds of its expected life, replacing it is usually the better spend. Under that line, and on almost any built-in or professional appliance, repair wins easily. We would rather lose the job than sell a part nobody should be buying.
Towns we do this work in
Refrigerator & Freezer Repair is available in all nine towns on our route: Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, Juno Beach, Tequesta, Hobe Sound, North Palm Beach, Palm Beach, Stuart and Jupiter Island. The price, the warranty and the arrival window are identical in every one, and nothing is added for travel inside the ZIP codes listed on our service area pages.

What the refrigerator / freezer is telling you
On this coast a refrigerator is never just a refrigerator.
Warm on the fridge side, freezer still fine
One evaporator down in the freezer cools both spaces on nearly every modern machine, with a fan pushing that cold air forward. Let the fan stall, or the damper that meters the air stick shut, and the freezer carries on looking perfectly well while the food above it quietly warms up. We put a thermometer in both spaces before anybody reaches for a part.
Frost building across the freezer wall
A healthy refrigerator melts its own frost several times a day. When the heater, the limit or the board driving them stops, ice closes over the evaporator until no air can get through. Each leg gets metered on its own, because swapping a whole assembly to cure a two dollar switch is not work we would want to invoice.
Water gathering under the crisper drawers
A defrost drain that has frozen shut or filled with sludge, so the meltwater comes forward instead of going down. Clearing the tube fixes today; putting the right drain clip back is what stops it returning next season.
It runs and runs and never shuts off
Start with the condenser here. Salt and dust together build a felt over the fins, and a coil that cannot shed heat keeps the compressor on all day. After that, a door gasket that has stopped sealing, or a thermistor telling the board it is colder inside than it is.
A click or buzz every few minutes
The start relay is trying to bring the compressor up and dropping out under load. More refrigerators get written off over this than over anything else, and the part costs a small fraction of a new machine.
The ice maker has quit
The inlet valve, a supply line frozen solid inside the door, or the module itself. Our ice maker page goes further into undercounter and built-in machines, which are a different animal entirely.
Manufacturers that build refrigerator / freezer appliances
These are the makes we service that build this appliance. Each brand page sets out the full range that manufacturer makes and what tends to give out on it.
What happens once you call
The shape of a visit is the same whichever appliance it is and whichever town on the coast you are in.
- Two hour window, confirmed by phone or text
- One price, approved by you before anything comes apart
- Nothing on the invoice you did not agree to
Tell us what it is doing
Ring the shop or book online and describe what you are seeing: the make, the model number if it is to hand, and what happens when you run the machine. Detail here is what decides whether the right part leaves on the van.
We test it properly
A technician arrives inside a two hour window, reads whatever the appliance has logged for itself, tests the circuit that points at, and tells you in plain language what happened.
You say yes to one price
One price for the finished job, given before anything comes apart. Say yes and most repairs are done that same visit, with 30 days on labor written on the invoice.

refrigerator / freezer repair questions
Is a ten year old refrigerator worth mending?
For built-in and column refrigeration from Thermador, Liebherr, Viking, Monogram or JennAir, nearly always yes. Those units are built to run for twenty years and more, and a fan or a board is a small share of what replacement plus cabinetry work would price. On a freestanding unit past twelve years with a genuine sealed system leak, we will tell you straight when buying new is the better spend.
How long does a refrigerator repair take?
Testing takes thirty to forty five minutes, because the readings have to be taken while the unit is running. Roughly three quarters of repairs finish during that first visit, since fans, thermistors, defrost heaters, inlet valves and start relays all ride on the van. Sealed system and compressor work is booked as a second appointment so the refrigerant can be recovered properly.
Why do coils need cleaning so often on the coast?
Salt in the air settles on the condenser along with ordinary household dust, and the two together form a mat that traps heat. A coil in that state can add years of wear to a compressor in a single season. On the island and along the beach we recommend a clean once a year, and it genuinely is the difference between ten years of service and five.
